Sports Massage is ideal for active individuals who may need a fast recovery time or need to remove lactic acid before they compete. It is equally beneficial on a long term maintenance program. It's a deep tissue massage that helps ease muscle spasm and encourage healing of the soft tissue. This spasm or micro-inflammation is often caused by physical exertion.

By understanding these systems and the effects of exercise, we may also appreciate how massage may benefit the sports person and becomes an integral part of the athlete's training program. Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue.

It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. Some of the same strokes are used as classic massage therapy, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain.

Relaxation Massage
30 min - $80
                                  60 min - $120                               90 min - $155                              120 min - $210

Relaxation Massage is the most common form of massage therapy utilising long, smooth strokes, kneading and other movements focused on superficial layers of muscle using massage oil. Massage therapy improves circulation by bringing oxygen and other nutrients to body tissues and it relieves muscle tension and pain, increases flexibility and mobility, and helps reduce pain and stiffness in muscles and joints.

A good relaxation massage relieves stress and tension in your muscles and will leave you with a sense of well being. It achieves this by improving circulation, so your organs and skin get more oxygen as well as moving fluid through your lymphatic system. A relaxation massage encourages your body to digest its food and get rid of toxins. It will also help you to sleep better. A good massage will also help un-knot any muscles, soothe aches and sprains and  encourage the skin to heal minor abrasions.

Pre-Natal Massage
30 min - $80                                  60 min - $120                               90 min - $155

Prenatal massage is designed to relieve the discomfort and stress of pregnancy while making special adjustments to normal massage practice because of the changes pregnancy makes in the body. Prenatal massage therapists are specially trained not only in the techniques of prenatal massage, but also to recognise signs of prenatal disorders, such as pre-eclampsia, that can endanger the mother or child.

In the early stages of pregnancy, prenatal massage is much like a regular Swedish massage, except that the massage therapist will avoid sensitive areas of the body, as well as acupressure points that are known to trigger labour, and will check for excessive swelling or other danger signs.

Unlike most clinics, at Pro Sports Remedial we have a specially designed pregnancy bed which allows mum to lie comfortably on her stomach and her back throughout all stages of pregnancy.

Cupping
60 min - $120

Cupping therapy is an advanced form of Chinese medicine and is performed through the application of placing glass to the skin. This helps elevate pain, removes toxins and allows the body to feel free and rested. The glasses act as a vacuum and suck the extra heat thereby improving blood circulation and are placed on strategic points. Also termed as pressure points they are similar to those used in the process of acupuncture. Once placed, the cups are left on the body for a period of ten to fifteen minutes.

There are two kinds of cupping techniques. The first is termed as the  massage cupping wherein the glasses are moved in a circular motion to provide relief to sore joints and affected tissues. The second technique is the stationery cupping wherein the cups are placed on a specific pressure point and not removed until the session is over.
